December 17, 2000: It's been a looong while since I last wrote. Time just
seems to fly, and there's not enough time for everything, so somethings get neglected
without it being intentional.
Anyways, I thought I'd write a little about tolerance within the breeding
community. It is our experience that this is something we all could work more on. Instead
of standing in the way of people who are thinking new thoughts or planning their own
breeding programs, we should all embrace the fact that someone is willing to go the extra
mile for our dear felines. This in no way means that those who don't have the opportunity
to do extra things are worth "less" because of this, but instead of being
negative towards new thoughts, it would be nice for the people working with projects to
feel like they are backed up by others in the breeding community. The tongue can be used
as a sword or as a refreshing breeze - it's up to each of us what we choose to use it for.
The important thing is this: we need to define our seperate goals. What we
personally feel is important with our breeding plans. This is a very personal, individual
thing, and it's also something that we don't all have to agree upon. As long as we
concentrate on the welfare of our felines, and remember that we're "BREEDERS" of
a living animal race, and not a production line of some sort, we are going in the right
direction. We are all different, and our cats are also all different and have different
needs and preferences. That's what makes the world a colorful place, both inside and
outside the feline circles.
Having said this, I would like to include something here I received via e-mail,
which I think we all should read several times to let it sink in.
It's very true, and a golden nugget to us all - noone excluded!
