Meet our lovely
chocolate girl who came to us all the way from Australia!! Her breeder is Anne
Davis - (AUS)
Shakandah
Birmans. Thank you, Anne, for sending and entrusting
us this wonderful girl!!
"Sandy"
as we call her here at home was named after a Beach Boys song - "Surfer
Girl".
Being originally from Southern California myself, I grew up with older
brothers and of course they had the Beach Boys blasting when I got to tag
along with them and their friends to the beach when they were going to
surf. And since Anne & family loves the Beach Boys also, we thought it
was a fitting name for a girl coming from a SUNSHINE country!!
Sandy
has a very dark chocolate color. There have been questions as
to if she is a seal point instead of chocolate, but the
kittens she has had so far (V-litter & X-littter) have
only been chocolate & lilac solids & tabbys, so we see
her as a very dark chocolate, with a LOVELY mask depth!!
Because her mask color is as dark as it is, her coat otherwise
has, at times, darker than is usual for most chocolates. One things
for sure - she has a wonderful mask depth, and she will
be a real help with our goal to get better masked dilutes! Other than that
she really is a lovely Birman, with WONDERFUL eye color, as
well!! It's quite difficult to bring out the color of her eyes
with pictures, since her mask is as dark & dense as it is,
but her eyes really are in the "stunning class". She has a lovely
stocky body - she is not a long Birman, but she isn't too
cobby either - she's just VERY SOLID!! Everything about her is
really in proportion, which is really the most important
thing, we think.
Sandy is
such a loving Birman, though she and Hally don't always get
along, but it's not a big problem - luckily!! She is such a people's cat - SO LOVING, with a temperament is
hard to beat in that department!! She's SO DIFFICULT to take pictures of,
because she just wants to cuddle....that's why it took a
little longer to get her new page up - she just wouldn't
cooperate with us as far as "posing".
Sometimes she seems to be in her own "little world".
We have to laugh at that, but she just shuffles around and is
a very quiet Birman. She is the dry food monitor, though, and
when I hear her crying, I KNOW what is needed. So she helps me
keep track!!
We
look forward to more "Aussie" babies from Sandy, as
she has been a wonderful mother!!
